Jay Finkelstein
With
Full Scale

Jay Finkelstein comes from the Seattle/Olympia contra dance community where he is active as a caller, musician, and a dancer. He has a good directive calling style conveyed in a clear and calming voice and has a fine appreciation of the relation of tunes and dances. His experience shows.

Full Scale come together from around Washington to bring a traditional New England sound in all it’s glory. Yankee Hornpipes, Celtic tunes, and songs from the Shetlands and England. They arrange their music specifically to fit Jay’s calling. Laurel Stone is on the fiddle, Phil Katz on the accordion, Shelly Jenkins on the guitar, Dave Goodmanson on the piano, with guest Paul Englesberg on the flute and concertina.

There is a workshop at 7:30pm.  The dances begin at 8:00.  All other dance details are on the “About Our Dance” page on this website.

We Need Help With Sound

The sound system is an essential part of the dance.

We have a great sound system, we just need some help — carrying it in to the hall, setting it up, and at the end of the night packing it away and carrying it out. If you would like to volunteer to support our dance by assisting with this responsibility, please contact me (Erran, 360-460-6594). Any form of help is welcome, from simply hauling equipment, to operating the mixing board, depending on your interest. Your compensation will be: my gratitude, the dancers’ appreciation, and free admission to the dance.
