A workshop at 7:30 pm will introduce the basics of contra dance. Dancing is from 8 to 11 pm.

The Fixations is a highly respected band from Seattle. Cathy Whitesides (fiddle), Sandy Bradley (guitar), and Laurie Andres (accordian) provide live music for contra and square dances.

The Fixationsare famous for their incredibly tight and compelling dance music, their rampant enthusiasm, and their international credentials. Featured at major contra dance camps and festivals in the country over the past 35 years, their joy infects the entire dance floor, offering both new dancers and long-time pros a blissful night of fun. Laurie Andres has long been sought out to perform on accordion and teach music and dance because his phrasing is impeccably wedded to the dance. Sandy Bradley is a master guitar player, caller, and long-time host of beloved radio program “Potluck”. Cathie Whitesides’s Irish fiddle expertise was a quick fit with the New England-style contra tunes. Cathie, Sandy and Laurie met in 1980 and the musical chemistry caught fire. Expect a peak dance experience!
Michael Karcher makes dancing easy
for everyone. He teaches the basics,
and prompts the dances all evening.

Dances will be taught and called by Michael Karcher from Seattle. Michael has been having the time of his life calling around the Pacific Northwest over the last two years. When he isn’t calling, he’s pursuing a PhD in statistics at the University of Washington and dancing in and around Seattle. This will be his first time at our dance.

Dance organizer Tom Shindler said, “In addition to a great band and caller, we have the most fun, friendly folks to dance with anywhere! All ages, and all experience levels. So come have some good active fun.”
