Countercurrent (Brian Lindsay and Alex Sturbaum), arguably the most popular contra dance band in the Northwest, is a powerhouse acoustic folk duo based in Olympia, WA, featuring driving guitar, lyrical fiddle, harmony vocals, and foot percussion. Bringing the deep drive of dance music to every performance, their arrangements blend both traditional and modern influences with astounding musicianship and fluency. Countercurrent is a genre-bending experience rooted firmly in the traditional music of the Celtic Isles and America; music that lifts you up and charges fearlessly into the future of folk music.
George Marshall calling

Each fall, world-famous George Marshall leaves his Western Massachusetts home to tour the Northwest. We’re fortunate to have him all the way out here on the Peninsula again. He’s been calling dances since 1978, sharing his passion for contra dance while touring nationally as well as internationally. George’s specialty is teaching and calling New England-style contra dances. He is renown for his knack of working with bands matching music to dances and for his humorous, smooth, concise teaching and warm presentation. And, he always brings an awesome band with him (see above).
