**This dance will be held at the Gardiner Community Center**
The Contra Kings are a collection of skilled local musicians that play old time fiddle tunes that blend perfectly with the figures of the dances to create a sense of freedom, liberty, and fun. Andrew Norcross on fiddle and Emmett Pritchard on mandolin lead the melody while Jonathan Schenefeld on guitar and Frank Lowenstein on upright bass keep the rhythm moving.
Dave Thielk, who heads up the Port Townsend dance, has called dances from Alaska to San Diego, and from Port Townsend to Wisconsin. His style developed from years of calling in barns, community halls, living rooms, bars, parks and more. He’ll call an array of Contras, Square Dances, and Sicilian Circle Dances. (Don’t know what a Sicilian circle dance is? Come find out!)
