Rose St. Ramblers play, with Tom & Amy Wimmer calling

Come to our monthly dance at the Black Diamond Community Hall! Saturday, Feb. 1st, 2014!

The Rose Street Ramblers from Port Townsend keep the kinetic energy of the dance hall elevated with their driving southern dance tunes. The band includes Becky Evasick on fiddle, Dave Thielk on banjo, Carol Hardy on guitar, and Lori Bernstein on bass.  Collectively, the band has over 60 years of contra and square dance band experience! They are actively engaged in promoting old time music and dance, and play regularly for community dances, private parties and house dances.

Tom Wimmer is a mainstay of the Seattle dance scene. He’s been calling contras for many years, and with his wife Amy he organizes the weekly dance at Phinney Ridge. He strives to create a program tailored to the dancers’ skills and tastes, always with fun, interesting dances. Amy and Tom take a break from their usual tasks of herding chickens and project managers to do something more fruitful, like calling a dance.  (Oh, and Amy promises to put down her knitting needles for the evening as well.)  They have been dancing for a long time, and calling for a few years less than that.

Tom will teach a workshop on the basics at 7:30. Come early for an introduction to community dancing. Then the band kicks in from 8:00 to 11:00pm.

Admission is by donation, suggested $8 per adult, $4 for 12-18 year olds. But no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Dance is at the Black Diamond Community Hall, 1942 Black Diamond Rd., Port Angeles, WA 98362. You do not need to come with a partner. Dress is casual, come as you are.
